This option is designed for situations where the Trek Transponder internal GPS antenna may not have enough signal, commonly due to the until being installed inside a metal boat or locker. When there is not enough signal the internal GPS may lose its fix and is more likely to produce fix errors. This option allows the GPS antenna to be placed in a position with optimum satellite signal which is then fed to the Trek Transponder by cable.
The EGPS40 Active External Antenna Option provides a Male SMA connector inside the Trek Transponder to which the Active External Antenna is connected, a 5m length of RG174 and the antenna itself in a small black ABS enclosure.
